This guide contains tips and advice on everything that you need to know as a parent of a fencer.
Returning MFA Members
Please select ONLY ONE of the following Athlete Memberships: FULL or RURAL. Athletes who hold a Full or Rural Membership who also wish to perform coaching or officiating roles can do so without further membership from the MFA. For those with multiple roles in the community, please purchase the Associate Membership or the most relevant membership category.
CFF License Numbers should remain the same – this will not show up during the renewal process, but should be on the Membership Card received by members after successfully renewing their license. If that is not the case, please contact the MFA immediately.
Once you have purchased your CFF license number, please use this page to look up your membership number should you need to.
Extra Notes
The Additional Licences section pertains to CFF fees aimed at supporting Coaches and Officials at the National level, and is not required for MFA membership.
**Please note that Interpodia charges transaction fees in addition to other processing fees (included in the “Processing Fees” line) and a refund fee.
If you run into issues, please contact: fencing@sportmanitoba.ca.
Membership Types
10 week (up to 10 weeks of Instructional Membership)
$80 (CFF License Affiliation Fee of $30 is included)
Beginner fencers who are enrolled in an initial instructional program with an MFA registered club and pay the Instructional MFA fee as set by the Board are eligible to become an instructional member. Instructional Membership is limited to the duration of the program or ten (10) weeks of classes or sessions if the time frame is not contiguous, whichever comes first. Instructional members do not have a vote within the Association. Instructional members are covered by the liability and accident insurance policies held by the Association when directly involved in the instructional activities.
Instructional members who wish to continue as a member in the MFA must upgrade to an Individual membership category, in which case they will be granted the right to vote within the Association.
Full (Individual Membership)
Full – $125 (CFF License Affiliation Fee of $30 is included)
Rural – $105 (CFF License Affiliation Fee of $30 is included)
Individual and Rural Members are eligible to apply for all programs run by the MFA should they fulfill the basic requirements for such programs. Individual and rural Members are covered by the liability and accident insurance policies held by the Association when directly involved in MFA (and MFA club members) activities.
Individual and Rural Members (of age of majority) have one (1) vote, and may carry one (1) proxy vote at MFA General Meetings. Individual Members practicing the sport of fencing may give their voting and proxy right to one (1) parent/legal guardian. If that member chooses not to do so and if his/her parent/legal guardian also wishes to have a vote, he/she must be an Associate Member to also have a voting and proxy right.
Associate Membership
$35 (CFF License Affiliation Fee of $30 is included)
Individuals who wish to assist the Association by volunteering, refereeing, organizing tournaments and/or generally participate in the Association activities but are not involved in the physical activity of fencing at any level, are eligible to become an Associate Member, as long as they are members of an MFA recognized club.
Associate Members over 13 years of age have one (1) vote and may carry one (1) proxy vote at MFA General Meetings.
Associate Members will be covered by liability and accident insurance policies held by the Association when directly involved in Associate Membership activities.

Ranking Linked to License Number
Please Note: Your ranking is linked with your license number. This means that if you already have a license, and you register under a new license number, you will lose all your previous ranking points. If you wish to correct the error after registering under an incorrect license number, there may be fees payable to the CFF.
